Wombats are the world's largest burrowing animals. And they are designed to dig through some of the hardest terrain. We have some very impressive burrows along the creek line. Wombat's dig along creeks because the tree roots stabilise burrows a lot better than in fields, where there are no tree roots. Of course, this also means they can flood and collapse when flooding occurs.
